Our baby clinic is located in Melbourne's inner east within Victorian Children's Clinic, 149 Wattletree Rd Malvern 3144 where we work alongside a large team of Paediatricians and Paediatric Specialists including General Paediatricians, Paediatric Neurologists, Paediatric Rheumatologists, Paediatric Surgeons and Occupational Therapists.
The clinic space is mostly suited to babies, but we can accommodate older children on request (please email admin@littlemoversphysio.com.au to enquire). The clinic is wheelchair accessible and has baby changing facilities on site.
The Paediatric Physiotherapists at our Malvern Baby Clinic see babies with a wide range of conditions affecting movement, including but not limited to:
-
Concerns about delayed gross motor development (e.g., not moving into sitting by 9 months, not pulling to stand by 12 months, not walking by 18 months)
-
Feeling too stiff or floppy to handle
-
Difficulty with tummy time
-
A preference to turn the head one way and/or a flat or misshapen head
-
Asymmetry (e.g., moving one arm/leg more than the other, or a strong hand preference)
-
Prematurity
-
Diagnosed conditions (genetic conditions e.g., Down Syndrome, neurological conditions e.g., Cerebral Palsy, neuromuscular conditions, complex medical conditions)
The Paediatric Physiotherapists at the Malvern Baby Clinic apply a 'strengths based', family centred approach when working with children and their families. They are trained in various infant assessments which can be used to gain a deeper understanding of gross motor skills and development, to guide intervention and when eligible, support applications for Early Intervention funding. Some of the assessments our Physios may use include the Alberta Infant Motor Scale, the Hammersmith Infant Neurological Examination and Prechtl's General Movements Assessment.
Appointments can be made using the button below. Referrals are not essential, but it is helpful to have reports from your child’s Paediatrician, GP, or other healthcare providers prior to your appointment to make the appointment time as productive as possible.
There is plenty of street parking outside Victorian Childrens Clinic on Watteltree Rd (2 hour limit) and in Drysdale St and Nicholls St. 2-hour and all day carparks are located off Wattletree Rd within 1 block of the clinic.
